Dan Bar-On

Pro­fes­sor of Psy­cho­lo­gy at the Ben-Guri­on-Uni­ver­si­ty of the Negev. He lived as a fruit plan­ter and edu­ca­tor in Kib­butz Reviv­im; He stu­di­ed psy­cho­lo­gy, spe­cia­li­zed in rese­arch and the­ra­py of fami­lies of Holo­caust sur­vi­vors. He recei­ved his PhD at the Hebrew Uni­ver­si­ty (Jeru­sa­lem) in 1981. From 1993 to 1995 he held the Chair of the Depart­ment of Beha­viou­ral Sci­en­ces at the Ben-Guri­on-Uni­ver­si­ty of the Negev in Beer-She­ba; Sin­ce 1996 he holds the David Lopa­tie Chair for Post-Holo­caust Psy­cho­lo­gi­cal Stu­dies; He also holds the Chair of the Cen­ter for Dia­lo­gue bet­ween Popu­la­ti­ons in Conflict.

Shifra Sagy

Lec­tu­rer in Psy­cho­lo­gy at the {Depart­ment of Edu­ca­ti­on} at the Ben-Guri­on-Uni­ver­si­ty of the Negev. Se recei­ved her PhD in psy­cho­lo­gy 1990; She holds the Chair of the Edu­ca­tio­nal Psy­cho­lo­gy Pro­gram of the BGU. She spe­cia­li­zes in coping and adjus­t­ment to stres­sors, recent­ly invol­ved in stu­dies con­cer­ning the psy­cho­lo­gi­cal effects of the Arab-Israe­li con­flict, coll­ec­ti­ve iden­ti­ty and values.

Emda Orr

Chair of the School Coun­seling Pro­gram at the Ben Guri­on Uni­ver­si­ty of the Negev, Beer She­va. Up to 1976 her care­er included school tea­ching and work as cli­ni­cal and edu­ca­tio­nal psy­cho­lo­gist. Her PhD dis­ser­ta­ti­on (recei­ved during 1984 from the Hebrew Uni­ver­si­ty, Jeru­sa­lem) dealt with coping stra­te­gies of breast-can­cer pati­ents. Her recent rese­arch int­rests are cen­te­red on social repre­sen­ta­ti­ons, i.e., issues of the rela­ti­onships bet­ween social sys­tems and indi­vi­du­al con­s­truc­tion of the­se sys­tems. Among her recent publi­ca­ti­ons is “Social repre­sen­ta­ti­ons and group mem­ber­ship: shared and dif­fu­sed paren­tal ide­as in three Israe­li set­tings” published in the Euro­pean Jour­nal of Social Psy­cho­lo­gy 26 (1996).
