Orhan Silier

grad­u­at­ed from the Mid­dle East Tech­ni­cal University’s Eco­nom­ics Depart­ment. 1970–1973 fac­ul­ty mem­ber at the same uni­ver­si­ty. In 1973 he left the uni­ver­si­ty along with 50 oth­er fac­ul­ty mem­bers. In 1978, he reclined the per­mis­sion of resturn­ing to the fac­ul­ty. He served as a fac­ul­ty mem­ber at the Uni­ver­si­ties of Bre­men, Kas­sel and Mar­burg in Ger­many. His doc­tor­al the­sis (Mar­burg; Dept.of Polit­i­cal Sci­ences) was enti­tled “1960–1980: A Sta­tis­ti­cal Analy­sis of Turk­ish Labor Activ­i­ties”. 1986–1990 founder and Chair­man of the Turkey Stud­ies Depart­ment in the Inter­na­tion­al Social His­to­ry Insti­tute (Ams­ter­dam). Since the estab­lish­ment of the His­to­ry Foun­da­tion in 1991 he con­tin­ues in his posi­tion as Gen­er­al Sec­re­tary as well as Vice Chair­man of the Inter­na­tion­al Unit­ed Labor Historians.
