Orhan Silier

gra­dua­ted from the Midd­le East Tech­ni­cal University’s Eco­no­mics Depart­ment. 1970 – 1973 facul­ty mem­ber at the same uni­ver­si­ty. In 1973 he left the uni­ver­si­ty along with 50 other facul­ty mem­bers. In 1978, he recli­ned the per­mis­si­on of res­tur­ning to the facul­ty. He ser­ved as a facul­ty mem­ber at the Uni­ver­si­ties of Bre­men, Kas­sel and Mar­burg in Ger­ma­ny. His doc­to­ral the­sis (Mar­burg; Dept.of Poli­ti­cal Sci­en­ces) was entit­led “1960−1980: A Sta­tis­ti­cal Ana­ly­sis of Tur­ki­sh Labor Acti­vi­ties”. 1986 – 1990 foun­der and Chair­man of the Tur­key Stu­dies Depart­ment in the Inter­na­tio­nal Social Histo­ry Insti­tu­te (Ams­ter­dam). Sin­ce the estab­lish­ment of the Histo­ry Foun­da­ti­on in 1991 he con­ti­nues in his posi­ti­on as Gene­ral Secre­ta­ry as well as Vice Chair­man of the Inter­na­tio­nal United Labor Historians.
